A student stands over a patient, needle poised. They have a “perfect” prescription: a textbook combination of points harvested from a lecture slide on chronic lower back pain. But as the needle meets the skin, the student hesitates - the symptom of a quiet habit that has taken hold of our profession. We routinely say we “prescribe” points. It sounds efficient. It echoes the authority of biomedical culture and fits neatly into the insurance field. But vocabulary is never neutral; repeated long enough, it dictates behavior.
California Acupuncturist Hosts Weekly Television Show on Health and Fitness
Zee Lo, LAc, OMD, PhD, a licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of Chinese medicine in California, has become one of the first acupuncturists in the state to host his own television show. The program, "New Age Healing & Fitness With Dr. Zee Lo," airs on Monday nights on selected stations in the Los Angeles area.
The series is designed to focus on health and well-being from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective. Each week, a particular health topic will be discussed, followed by demonstrations of acupuncture, tui na, tai chi, exercises, and other forms of healing.
Dr. Lo received his OMD degree from Samra University, and obtained a PhD in Chinese Medicine from South Baylo University. He has also written numerous textbooks on traditional Chinese medicine, and is an expert in several forms of martial arts. He maintains a successful private practice in Los Angeles, specializing in sports injuries, anti-aging and holistic health care.
