Editorial Staff

Pacific College of Health and Science has announced a new, first-ever degree program: a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) touted by the college as the first postgraduate program in holistic nursing in the United States. PCHS notes that "upon completion, nurses will be prepared to provide holistic and integrative nursing education in academia, hospitals, healthcare systems, and private practice consulting."

As with the college's holistic nursing certificate program and RN-to-BSN program with a holistic nursing focus, the new MSN program is 100 percent online. The 40-credit program (22 core credits and 18 specialized track credits) features three tracks: nurse coach, nurse educator and nurse coach – professional development specialist; as well as a medical cannabis specialization option and a course in entrepreneurship. Program faculty include Carey Clark, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, RYT, FAAN, director of Pacific College's nursing program; Kristen Lombard, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, PMHCNS-BC, MSN program chair; Carla Mariano, EDD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAIM, co-founder of Pacific College's holistic nursing programs; and Eloise Theisen, RN, MSN, AGPCNP-BC, president of the American Cannabis Nurses Association.

A bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) is a prerequisite for entering the MSN program. Other requirements for program entry include a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; completion of basic pathophysiology, basic health assessment, basic pharmacology and basic nursing courses (C grade or higher in each), and completion of a statistics or statistical review course / certification. The MSN program begins this fall.
